What Are All The Dyson Vacuum Tools Named… And What Does Each Do?

01/02/2021 by HelpAtMyHome Staff

Each Dyson cordless vacuum includes a number of tools — usually between 5 and 11 — but Dyson doesn’t really take the time to explain what each tool is called or what it even does! This article will solve all your Dyson tool problems.

Dyson vacuums come with many parts. This number varies based on if you bought an Animal, which has many parts, or something a bit more basic, like a Motorhead.

Dyson Parts Named And Explained

Here is a deeper look at the Dyson cordless vacuum tools…

Mini Soft Dusting Brush

The Mini Soft Dusting brush looks a lot like the Stubborn Dirt brush, but it’s turned sideway, so that the bristles are inline with the tube. The dusting brush is used for dustin and lightly brushing delicate things, like desktops, keyboards, and blinds, where the bristles won’t move the item being cleaned, they simply disrupt and lift any dust.

Price: About $20

Combination Tool

This tool combines a brush and a nozzle, so you can have a nozzle to pickup larger items or extend a brush so you can pick us the bristles to lift dust and grime.

Price: About $20

Stubborn Dirt Brush

This is the newer version of a stiff bristled brush that is used for breaking up caked-on grime and lifting it up. This model is designed to work with the V7, V8, V10, and V11 cordless vacuums. It’s designed to work with car mats, door mats, and other hard-to-clean textured surfaces there brushing is required.

Price: About $9

Older Dyson Tools

These are older Dyson tools that are, mostly, no longer sold. These have mostly been replaced with newer models as opposed simply being dropped from the line-up.

Stiff Bristle Brush

This is the older version of a stiff bristled brush, currently known as the Stubborn Dirt Brush. This model was sold with the DC59 and the V6 but was then replaced on the V7.

Articulating Hard Floor Tool

This is a brush head tool that is very slim and able to pivot, designed to clean hardwood and tile floors while being able to navigate under couches and cabinets. Like the Stiff Bristle Brush, this model was last sold on the V6 vacuum.

Soft Dusting Brush

This is the predecessor to the Mini Dusting Brush. It was a full-sized brush designed for cleaning blinds, curtains, bookshelves and similar sensitive dust magnets.
